Invasive Species Council of British Columbia

Volunteer Spotlight: Jennifer Rodriguez

Meet ISCBC youth volunteer Jennifer Rodriguez! Jennifer is passionate about restoration and remediation of natural habitats. She is helping preserve natural landscapes with her family as they identify and pull out invasive plants from farms and recreation areas.

What do you like about volunteering?
Volunteering with Invasive Species Council of BC has given me the opportunity to enrich my knowledge and to be more confident to speak out and educate others about native and invasive species.

What inspired you to take action?
As a student in the environmental field, I felt that it was important for me to take action and be involved in current issues like the loss of biodiversity caused by invasive species.

What volunteer activities have you been involved in?
I’ve completed field surveys in Westbank, Mabel Lake Provincial Park, Xaxlip and Lytton First Nations Reserve.

What would you say to a potential volunteer
Don’t wait any longer and take the opportunity to learn, be part of the change and get involved in your community. You won’t regret it!
