Sandbar willow is widespread throughout North America and is grown as a popular ornamental shrub in the UK. It grows to 7 m tall and has attractive grey bark and narrow, silver-green leaves. This willow does best in moist areas such as streamsides. It also tolerates the occasional drought. Sandbar willow does well in either sun or part shade.

When selecting non-invasive plants for your garden, be sure to look for those that are suitable for your location, including moisture requirements, hardiness zone, and avoidance of known bear attractants among other factors.
