Volunteers Celebrated in New Artist Series Release

Published March 17, 2022

ISCBC is excited to spotlight the creation of a sticker celebrating the work of our youth volunteer team, with artwork created by Josie Ruoss of Kelowna BC. This design is part of a suite of stickers featuring the work of amazing British Columbian artists and supporting community science and behaviour change programs in BC.

What does the design represent?

This design represents youth taking action in their communities and engaging in real-world projects that are meaningful to them, their community, and their environment. By working together, or through the power of one, anyone can make a long-lasting impact to protect BC’s natural landscapes for future generations to come.

How did volunteers contribute to the project/design?

Volunteers are empowered to take action across the province through virtual and in-person opportunities. The design for the volunteer sticker was imagined by the Youth Program’s Education Committee, a virtual committee who created a visual representation of what the Youth Program and community service means to them.

About the ISCBC Youth Volunteers Program

Volunteers from across the province get their hands dirty with fieldwork, engage in skill-building workshops, and gain community service experience with the Community Science Youth Team. The flexibility of our program allows our volunteers to become inspired in an area that interests them. Our volunteers are then able to plan and carry out real-world activities to support our goal to promote healthy habitats and communities, keeping them free of invasive species.

Stay tuned for the next artist series, featuring PlantWise, Buy Local Burn Local and Don’t Let It Loose!
