ISCBC’s ‘Play & Protect’ Invasive Species Mobile Classroom has been connecting with communities across B.C. since 2023, introducing folks to invasive species, their impacts and what we can all do to prevent the spread.
The trailer has been a huge hit in communities around the province – from farmers markets and schoolyards to visitor centres and arts and science summer camps! This hands-on experience offers identification of invasive species and introduces the important responsible practices we can all adopt, through games and tactile fun. It’s educational and engaging for kids and adults alike.
There are over 10 modern and interactive displays, educational games, and visual storyboards with information and messaging on ISCBC initiatives such as how to Play Clean Go, Clean Drain Dry, Don’t Let It Loose, and Buy Local Burn Local. Some activities include exploring species under magnifying glasses, cleaning boots and tires to ensure they are free of invasive species before entering natural areas, and fishing for invasive species!
