About This Species

Zone 3a

Grow me instead of Goldmoss stonecrop

Golden alyssum is a low-growing evergreen perennial that blooms with bright yellow flowers in the early summer. This plant is drought tolerant and prefers rocky, well drained sites. This species is excellent for containers, mass plantings, or rock gardens as it tumbles and spills nicely forming a cushiony yellow carpet of flowers. Golden alyssum does not tolerate “wet feet”, so do not plant this species in areas with poor drainage or wet soils.

When selecting non-invasive plants for your garden, be sure to look for those that are suitable for your location, including moisture requirements, hardiness zone, and avoidance of known bear attractants among other factors.
