This webinar will outline the approach to invasive plants in BC Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure Gravel Pits. The historic approach to invasive plant management in gravel pits will be discussed along the goals, objectives and logistics to this strategic approach. It will conclude with the reporting process and positive results achieved using this approach and a overview of the benefits.
About the presenter:
For 34 years, Dave worked for BC Ministry of Agriculture and BC Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations. He worked extensively developing invasive plant management strategies and control recommendations for pasture, range and intensive crop production. He led timing and rate trials for herbicide efficacy and crop tolerance research for label expansion and new herbicide registrations. He is a long standing member BC Integrated Vegetation Management Association and of the Canadian Weed Science Society (CWSS). He was the 2019 recipient of the CWSS Excellence in Weed Extension Award. In seven years with the Council, he has focused on training, project coordination and management. Dave frequently works with agriculture sector, First Nations and community members to mitigate the impacts of invasive species in rural areas.
