Goat’s beard is an herbaceous perennial that grows to 2 m tall and is known for its feathery masses of cream to white flowers. This native plant is shade-tolerant and prefers moist soil. Goat’s beard can be grown in full sun only if consistently watered but thrives best in part shade or deep shade. In the fall, the foliage turns yellow, adding some seasonal interest to the landscape. Superficially this species resembles Astilbe.
