Invasive Species Strategy for BC
Developing the 2023 – 2027 Invasive Species Strategy for BC
British Columbia’s diverse ecosystems create a multitude of environments for invasive species. The establishment and spread of invasive species in BC have been a growing concern due to their impact on the environment, society, and economy.
A call for improved coordination in 2002 led to the first Invasive Plant Strategy for BC. This Strategy identified shared priorities and recommendations to guide the work of governments, non-government organizations, and businesses. In 2012, this was updated and expanded to an Invasive Species Strategy for BC with a second strategy published in 2018. The newest update, the Invasive Species Strategy for BC 2023-2027, is nearing completion. From February – April 2023, we obtained extensive feedback through surveys and workshops to support this process. Development has continued throughout the year, guided by a diverse oversight committee.
We now invite you to review the draft Invasive Species Strategy for BC 2023-2027!
Anyone living in British Columbia is welcome to review the latest Strategy draft and provide feedback. The open comment period will be open for one month, meaning all feedback must be received by December 22nd, 2023. If you are interested in supporting this process, please follow these steps:
