Japanese azalea is a compact, dense shrub with glossy, leathery, oval leaves and masses of flowers in early spring. They are available is an enormous range of colors from bright violet, to red, to pink, yellow, orange, and white. This species has shallow roots so requires regular watering and well-drained, slightly acidic soil. This azalea is evergreen, so its glossy green foliage remains attractive all year long.
