About This Species

Zone 7b BC Native

Grow me instead of Daphne (Spurge-Laurel)

As the common name suggests, Vaccinium ovatum is an evergreen shrub growing to 2m high and 1.5 m wide. Can tolerate a wide range of light conditions and is very attractive to birds. Foliage is glossy and green with new red growth. Flowers are white-pink and bell-shaped in the spring, followed by showy black edible berries in late summer-early fall.

When selecting non-invasive plants for your garden, be sure to look for those that are suitable for your location, including moisture requirements, hardiness zone, and avoidance of known bear attractants among other factors.
