The BC government has proclaimed May 2021 as Invasive Species Action Month (ISAM) to raise awareness of invasive species and encourage the public to take action.
Invasive species threaten BC’s environment, economy and society, including human health, but stopping invasive species is possible if we take action now to prevent, detect and manage invasive species.
Everyone can take action during ISAM and help prevent the spread of invasive species. Here are some ideas for how you can easily take part:
- Enter the ‘What’s In My Backyard’ Youth Photo Contest as an individual (under 30 years old) or with your family, class or youth group.
- Check out a variety of ISAM events you can participate in throughout May, taking place online and in person.
- Follow ISCBC on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn and share our ISAM posts with your network to spread the word.
- Municipalities and organizations can organize events, held virtually or safely in-person. Submit your events for ISCBC to co-promote and check out the partner toolkit.
