The Together in Action (TIA) Awards program, launched in 2014, recognizes initiatives, groups, and individuals that demonstrate leadership, innovation and collaboration in the field of invasive species in BC. The award program also recognizes the achievements of ISCBC Executive Director Gail Wallin, for providing provincial and national leadership and innovation in the area of invasive species.The awards are presented annually at ISCBC's Forum to those individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution in the past year. From education and outreach, to businesses and youth, the ISCBC’s awards program is designed to engage the public and encourage nominations from a range of areas.
Award Program Objectives
The objectives of the awards program are:
- Recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of those going over and beyond their work in the field of invasive species management in BC,
- Highlight successful partnerships and collaboration across invasive species stakeholders in BC,
- Raise awareness and promote further engagement and leadership in invasive species actions, and
- To raise the profile of ISCBC and its commitment to partnerships and celebrating success.
Annual TIA Awards
Annual Innovation and Leadership Award
This award is designed to recognize and celebrate the work of individuals, organizations, businesses and governments who demonstrate leadership and innovation in invasive species prevention, work and management in BC. Any individual or organization that has made significant contributions to invasive species management, education and awareness, research, or on-the-ground work in BC is eligible for nomination.
NOTE: The annual award will be internally recruited by the ISCBC Board and staff, and awarded based on sufficient and qualified nominations.
Annual Student Leadership Award
This award is designed to celebrate and support the work of post-secondary students 19 years of age and older, who demonstrate leadership and innovation in invasive species work, research, prevention and management in BC. There is a financial award of $1000 in conjunction with this Student Leadership Award, to acknowledge and support BC’s current and future leaders in the field of invasive species.
Milestone Year Awards
Every five years, on Council milestone years (e.g. twentieth anniversary in 2025), the full suite of five Together in Action Awards are presented at a gala event during the annual Forum. Nominations are received from the public (including ISCBC Board Members, members and staff) on milestone years. The five categories of awards include:
- Non-profit / Stewardship Organization/Youth groups (e.g. 4H, Guides, etc.)
Nominations are now being accepted from the public for the Annual Student Leadership Award until the deadline of Dec 11, 2020.
